Air Con Re-Gas R1234YF

The interior of your vehicle can be cooled using the air conditioning system in hot weather providing a cool and comfortable environment.

Just like the rest of your vehicle the air conditioning requires regular maintenance to allow for optimum performance, as a rule of thumb it is recommended that your vehicles air-conditioning should be re-gassed every two years.

Over time you vehicle can lose refrigerant gas and this can average between 10-15% per year. When you notice your air-conditioning is no longer performing most noticeably it is no longer cool enough, its time to get booked in for a re-gas.

Questions and Answers

How do I know which air con gas I need for my vehicle?

Since 1st January 2017 new EU regulations made it a requirement for all vehicle manufacturers to change to the new type of refrigerant gas named R1234YF.
Vehicles manufactured before 2014 will require the older refrigerant gas named R134A, however if its between 2014 and 2016 theres a possibility your vehicle could require either depending on the gas that the manufacturer used.

How often shall I re-gas my air-con?

Manufacturers recommend that your vehicle’s air conditioning should be recharged with gas and lubricant every 2 years to keep it running effectively and efficiently. This service isn’t usually part of your annual vehicle service so if your vehicle is over 2 years old then a recharge is probably due.
